With funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, I provided UX, branding, and visual design services to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in support of a mobile app providing local observers with tools to share their knowledge of environmental change.

Well Data Search
Global data search tool for industry
A global oil field services firm hired our team to develop a proprietary search tool to give users access to data sets associated with project sites worldwide. My role as lead UX Designer was to conduct user interviews, elicit and document requirements, develop workflows, create low- and high-fidelity prototypes, conduct user testing, and establish UX/UI design standards for the project.

Bringing Agile Development to government
I worked with the U.S. General Services Administration and the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services to provide UX research and design in support of their project to upgrade the Customer Information System (CIS) using an Agile Development framework.
As lead UX Designer, my first task was to find a way to get UX out in front of development in the Agile framework. We needed to populate the backlog with actionable user stories in Sprint 0, so developers could hit the ground running in Sprint 1.

FAA Aviation Weather Cameras
Route-based situational awareness for pilots
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commissioned our team to develop a mobile app and website to provide route-based situational awareness to pilots. The AvCam app and website provide pilots with real-time weather images and data from more than 1,200 ground-based aviation cameras throughout Alaska and Canada.

Simplify workflow, reduce errors, save time.
The Timesheet Submission Review page had a reputation for being difficult to work with. I interviewed user groups, built wireframes, conducted user tests, and leveraged our UX pattern library to improve workflows and save time-on-task.

Helping parents help their kids
I worked with the Alaska Department of Revenue, Child Support Services Division, to re-design the public-facing website. A primary goal of the effort was to encourage users to access online tools, and reduce call volumes to the CSSD support center.

Clean, local, inexhaustible energy
The Renewable Energy Atlas of Alaska is an award-winning publication that promotes the economic and environmental benefits of harnessing Alaska’s clean, local, and inexhaustible energy resources.
I worked with the Alaska Energy Authority, the Renewable Energy Alaska Project, and our GIS department to design and produce the Atlas, currently in its 4th edition.

Chukchi Sea Environmental Studies Program
The Chukchi Sea Environmental Studies Program (CSESP) was the largest, most robust multidisciplinary science program ever completed in the Chukchi. As lead UX designer and visual designer for the seven-year project, I was responsible for developing all public-facing communication materials, including concept and copywriting, website UX and design, video production, publication design and production, collateral materials, and project management.

I worked with the Municipality of Anchorage, Public Transportation Department to provide concept, design, and production of several public communication campaigns for the People Mover system.
